You have to say you’ve been at least once. My wife and I had the pleasure of eating here driving through town on a road trip. Well worth the stop and faster service than anticipated. They’re slider burgers so you’ll need at least a double or more than one. Old school shop with the griddle and everything made in front of you. Do one thing, and do it right, is the concept. Glad we stopped!

Nicks Burgers is a classic stop in Brookings SD. Every year when visiting for Hobo Day our family comes here to eat. Three burgers is about the same as a quarter pound burger. I prefer to get all the toppings but any burger from Nicks is good. The restaurant is super cute on the inside and I love that you sit at the counter and can watch them cooking the burgers. If you are looking for a place to eat downtown, this is definitely a place you must stop!

Really enjoyed our visit! You sit around a U-shaped counter and the staff cook hamburgers (sliders, really) in front of you. No fries, they have chips to choose from, and they make some mean shakes and malts! Prices were a bit of a surprise (3 double burgers and 2 malts) totaled $30, but it was a nice treat :)

I was told these were the best burgers I'd ever have and I can agree they're definitely in the top 10! Great atmosphere of a traditional, sit down counter diner. The burgers are a little small, so grab 2!

Nicks Burgers is a great stop for you and your family. We go there every year for hobo day. It is very nice because you can buy a whole bag, which is 8 burgers. The cooks are always working hard in the back. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a great time and some good food!

Absolutely loved this place. Small town diner vibe with amazing food and milkshakes to die for. Like these milkshakes taste like the ones your grandma would make for you. 10/10 would recommend if you are ever near here

If you are ever in Brookings this is a must stop place. Feels like a step back in time in a prototypical American college town. The small building is truly as charming as when it was built. It’s a simple menu with simple ingredients. When you do Burgers with well that’s all you need. I had three doubles with cheese and was stuffed. Most regulars seem to order 1-3 burgers or if you are a family you can order by the “bag” which includes 8 burgers. Sitting at the counter gives that old style diner vibe. The derived was polite and fast. Was in and out within 15mins. Very cool place and it’s a place everyone should try.

My dad used to come here and talk about this place all the time. So as kids he brought us there to eat and I remember sitting at the counter and thinking this place is great. Now as an an adult I still go there every time I come to town. It's just nice and nostalgic and a fun place to stop and the food isn't half bad.

Recommended by our friends. Burgers are more like sliders, but they tasted great (I got 2 doubles). Shake was also very good, undrinkable until it melted. The atmosphere is like an old-time diner. "Plate" was wax paper. Counter surrounded the cooking/prep area. Staff (and people there) were very friendly. Location is right down Main Street with many shops and eateries in an easy walking area.
